Farnham's metal-gate market is shaped by the town's heritage constraints more than by its market position. The Farnham Town Centre conservation area, designated in 1970, covers the bulk of the historic streets; the Shepheard and Flock conservation area, added in 2020-2021, extends that coverage further.
